Full-Time Faculty, Staff, AAP and Postdoctoral Fellows
You are considered a full-time employee and eligible to participate in the Georgetown University benefits program if you are:
- A staff employee, including AAPs and members of the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA), hired to work 30 or more hours per week;
- An academic employee (faculty) hired to work at least 75% time;
- An active postdoctoral or Law Center fellow hired directly by Georgetown University.
Eligibility for coverage under the various benefit plans is based upon your employment category. Enrollment in benefits, including health insurance, is not automatic.
Note: Employees must submit their benefits elections in GMS within 30 days of their date of hire or change in eligibility, many elected coverages will be retroactive to that date. To reduce the impact of retroactive premiums, we recommend attending a Benefits Orientation and submitting your elections as soon as possible.
