Georgetown University realizes that balancing the needs of family and work can be challenging and stressful. The following resources are available to help support you in managing your dependent care needs.

Working parents need support to balance the many responsibilities that you face each day. Your Bright Horizons Back Up Care and Enhanced Family Support™ benefit can help, every step of the way. This benefit is available to all full-time, benefits-eligible faculty, staff and post-doctoral fellows.

Back-Up Child, Adult and Elder Care

Don’t stress about school breaks, bad weather, or when your elder loved one is recovering from surgery. Each year you can reserve up to seven days of high-quality center, or in-home care for your child, adult, or elder relatives for a nominal copay.

Enhanced Family Support

Jump ahead on the waitlist at quality child care in a Bright Horizons® centers or take advantage of tuition discounts at our partner centers. Explore Sittercity’s database of sitters and virtual sitting, pet care, and more. Access a discounted local placement service to find trained, screened nannies . Take advantage of exclusive discounts on tutoring, test prep, and enrichment courses, as well as virtual and in-home learning pods.

Bright Horizons Back-Up Care Reservation Guide

Step 1: Register for My Bright Horizons
Online

  • Visit clients.brighthorizons.com/georgetown and click “Join Today”
  • Enter the requested credentials to verify your eligibility
  • Follow the prompts in the confirmation email to continue filling out your information
  • Create a personalized username and password for future use of the website
    If your benefit eligibility cannot be confirmed, you can still register by calling 877-BH-CARES. Your personal username and password will be delayed until confirmation is received from your employer.

Phone

  • Call 877-BH-CARES (242-2737) to speak with a care consultant 24/7
  • You’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to create a personalized username and password
  • Log into your account with your new credentials

Step 2: Reserve Back-Up Care
Access up to 7 days of back-up care annually at subsidized rates.

Online

  • Visit clients.brighthorizons.com/georgetown. Select “Back-Up Care” in the “Benefit summary” box and click “Request care” to access the back-up care site and make a care reservation.

Mobile

  • Download the mobile app by searching “Back-Up Care” in the App Store or Google Play to reserve care on the go
  • If you are fully registered and have used care once before, use your personalized username and password to access your account via the mobile app and make a care reservation
  • If you are accessing back-up care for the first time, enter your employer credentials:
    • Employer Username: Georgetown
    • Employer Password: Benefits4You

Register with Bright Horizons

The District of Columbia’s Paid Family Leave program provides employees with benefits when they are out on leave from work to bond with a new child, take care of a family member, or take care of their own serious health condition. Paid Family Leave is an
insurance program, which means that only employees who have worked in a covered job can receive benefits and only when they experience a covered event. You can visit the How to Apply section of the DC PFL website and view the Employee Handbook to learn more.

From child care centers, tutoring, laptops to Au Pair placement services, explore the employee discounts. Enter password “GUSAVES” when registering.
