Access to Legal Help During the Ukraine-Russia Conflict

Posted in Announcements

In response to the unfolding situation in Ukraine, MetLife Legal Plans is offering free attorney document review and consultation services to all Georgetown University Faculty & Staff.

You do not have to be currently enrolled in the legal plan to contact an attorney for help with issues related to this event.

The service would allow you to contact an attorney for consultation and document review for issues such as:

  • Personal property matters, including expatriate assets
  • Adoptions and guardianships
  • Immigration assistance
  • Real property issues, including estate planning

Plan attorneys traditionally provide legal advice based on U.S. law. As this is an evolving emergency relating to foreign governments and regulations, legal plan attorneys will do their best to aid with any legal help and consultation you require but may be limited in some instances.

This free assistance is available through 8/31/2022. To be connected to an attorney:

  1. Call the MetLife Legal Plans Customer Service Center at 800.821.6400.
  2. Identify yourself as a Georgetown University employee and provide the last four digits of your SSN or employee number
  3. Indicate that you are interested in the document review and consultation services offered as part of the Emergency Response Legal Assistance.
