Electronics and Software
What is car sharing? The Carsharing Association defines it as way “for local users to support of community transit and environmental goals… decreasing personal car ownership, reducing vehicle distance travelled, improving urban land use and development, providing affordable access to vehicles for all constituencies, as well as motivating residents to walk, cycle and take buses and trains, and decreasing dependence on fossil fuels while reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.” Whoa.
Georgetown has partnered with two nationally recognized car-sharing companies: car2go and Zipcar.
car2go, the only point A to point B carsharing service in the DC area, is now conveniently located on the Georgetown University campus, with two spaces in front of the Hoya Federal Credit Union (between Shaw Field and the Medical Campus) and two across the street from McCarthy Hall. View a map of parking spots on campus.
Eight Zipcars are available on the main campus of Georgetown University. Five are parked in lot 3 in front of the McDonough Gymnasium. Three are parked on Tondorff Drive near the pedestrian bridge to the Leavey Student Center. Click here for a map. It’s easy to sign up, reserve and drive! Learn more about zip car.
