Daring to Thrive

Daring to Thrive 3.0 returns in Fall 2024

We are back with Daring to Thrive 3.0

We are thrilled to announce Daring to Thrive 3.0! Gear up for a new lineup of monthly workshops, in-person events, and coaching conversations. In Daring to Thrive, we believe that personal and communal well-being go hand-in-hand, and we believe that everyone is a leader because each of us can impact the culture around us.  Our offerings are an opportunity to gather, practice, learn, grow, and bring what we learn back into our departments, homes, and world.

The GUWellness theme this year is “Going Back to the Basics.” In Daring to Thrive, we are keeping things simple, soulful, and practical to help you and your people thrive. We combine wellness + leadership for personal and communal transformation.  GUWellness partners with mindfulness expert, leadership coach, and licensed psychotherapist, Lisa McCrohan, to help us learn, grow, and deepen a culture of wellness across the University. Not a manager? As long as you are inspired to build or enhance a culture of wellness in any area of your life, you will benefit.

Daring to Thrive 3.0 includes:

  • Monthly group Zoom workshops (September – May)
  • 3 in-person group events
  • 1-1 coaching conversations

Daring to Thrive is an innovative wellness and leadership programming experience for faculty and staff within the Georgetown University community. It emphasizes that everyone is a leader and has the potential to impact culture, both at the University and in the greater community. It is designed to augment the University’s efforts and commitment to deepening its culture of wellness across the University.  It equips faculty and staff with an experiential and learning environment to build their knowledge base, leadership presence, and mindset to enhance the culture of wellness with their colleagues, their teams, and our society. This program stresses that personal wellness and community wellness go hand-in-hand and are both necessary for the evolution of our workplaces, community, and world.

This program is strengths-based, value-driven, and purpose-focused.  In a safe, mindful, and supportive learning environment, faculty and staff have the opportunity to thrive through:

  • learning science-backed wellness practices that benefit individuals, teams, and communities
  • enhancing leadership skills
  • fostering a mindset for growth, creativity, and potential
  • deepening their emotional intelligence and communication skills
  • having effective conversations to enhance and deepen the culture of wellness within the workplace and community

Daring to Thrive utilizes the best practices in workplace wellness, mindfulness, leadership, neuroscience, somatics, compassion, and communication to support faculty and staff in elevating their own well-being, the culture of well-being on our campus, and the well-being in our communities.

Every workshop will include a wellness + leadership theme, practical learning, strategic practices, gathering with colleagues, and a resource for you to bring back to your people (team, family, church, community) to support your wellness and the culture of wellness.
