Tuition Assistance Program Reminders for Summer 2021

Posted in Announcements

April 14, 2021

Dear Colleagues:

I am writing to share important reminders and deadlines related to Tuition Assistance Program (new window) (TAP) applications for the 2021 summer semester. An online TAP application (new window) is required for every semester in which you intend to utilize tuition benefits.

As you may recall, last year the university announced a number of updates to TAP benefits (new window). These updates included changes to eligibility criteria, covered schools and number of credit hours reimbursed under the program.

In February 2021, TAP Online moved to GU360. As a result of this change, you will now need to enter your NetID and password when submitting your TAP applications. Below are the Summer 2021 application submission deadlines:

TAP Benefit Processed by GU

Enrolled in a credit-bearing program at Georgetown University
May 1, 2021

May 31, 2021 and continuing on a rolling basis for later sessions

Enrolled in a non-credit certificate program through the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies (SCS)

Rolling basis

Every Thursday

Enrolled at an Outside Institution (submit application and required supporting documents)

May 1 or as soon as your institution bills for tuition

Rolling basis

Please be mindful that TAP Online applications are reviewed in the order they are received. For those enrolled at Georgetown University, Summer 2021 payment deadlines will vary depending on your academic session. TAP benefits are disbursed by May 31, with disbursements continuing on a rolling basis for those enrolled in a later summer session.

For outside institutions, it is important to remember that once required supporting documentation is received, tuition benefits can take up to six weeks to be disbursed by GU and received by your school. Unfortunately, GU cannot guarantee receipt of the TAP benefit payment by a specific due date, and TAP benefits do not cover late fees. Given this, please submit your TAP application as early as possible.

Finally, as a reminder, TAP benefits for graduate-level courses are automatically taxable to you. Please refer to our Tuition Tax Facts (new window) for details.

Thank you for your attention. If you have TAP-related questions, please direct them to tapbenefits@georgetown.edu (new window). We look forward to serving you.
Be well,
